[Micah Lexier] I OWN THIS Charm

Micah Lexier’s I Own This is a little mystery: specific yet open-ended, it consists of a tapered hexagon which bears an image of an arrow and the phrase I OWN THIS.

Like many of Lexier’s artworks, this object is based on something found – in this case an inscription in a used book, in which the young owner, Billy Porter, claims ownership by writing I OWN THIS BOOK on the book’s front endpapers. Transcribed  to this key tag format, the phrase refers to both the multiple itself as well as any object that might be attached to it.
